Classical Martial Arts Instruction in the Finger Lakes

Finger Lakes Jodo-kai is dedicated to providing training and instruction in Shinto Muso Ryu Jo - a Japanese martial art established in 1605 - and various assimilated arts. Our training focuses on traditional techniques and values, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the rich history of pre-Meiji Restoration Japanese combatives.
Training Information
WHEN: We generally hold classes twice per week, year-round, on Wednesdays afternoons from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and on Saturday mornings from 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
WHERE: In cold or inclement weather, we train indoors at Bethel Grove Community Center, 1825 Slaterville Road, Ithaca, New York. In pleasant weather, we generally meet outdoors at Stewart Park at the South end of Cayuga Lake.

BEGINNERS WELCOME! No experience in the martial arts is necessary.

While Shinto Muso Ryu can be a rewarding study for persons with backgrounds in other martial arts (and many members have experience in other arts), no such background is necessary.
